National Association Drainage Contractors

National Association Drainage Contractors

We are delighted to announce we are a new member of NADC Contractors trade body

As restrictions start to ease and we can see the light at the end of this dark tunnel we thought it would be the perfect time for a re-brand to mark new and exciting times ahead for Underground Surveys.

In 1994 the company was established as an independent, locally owned and run business and since then Underground Surveys has grown to become one of the most reliable, experienced, and skilled drainage contractors in the UK. As we embark on lots of new clients, projects, services, trainings and investing in new equipment and innovations we wanted to make sure our brand really represents who we are today. Our new logo is green and blue to signify the water and earth that we work with each and every day.

When working in a confined space you have a legal duty to identify and assess the risks people take and ensure that the necessary measures are in place to keep them safe at all times.

That's why at UGS we always ensure our teams are trained specifically to their job roles and refresher training is always carried out along with all the required calibrated and service safety equipment.

SUCCESSFUL PRACTICAL UPSKILL AND RESKILL WORKSHOP DAY FOR THE UGS TEAM!

Zone 1 EX CCTV Surveys

Zone 1 EX CCTV Surveys

ATEX Zone 1 · Underground Surveys are one of the UK's foremost specialist providers of CCTV surveys for pipelines and other enclosed structures.

We use Atex zone 1 rated equipment (EX) for surveying in the following environment:

HAZARDOUS GAS, VAPOUR AND MIST ENVIRONMENTS: ATEX ZONES 1 AND 2

Some of the environments in which we operate fall into the above category.

A good example of an ATEX Zone 1 or ATEX Zone 2 classified operation would be a chemical or petrochemical plant, where there is a heightened risk for explosion during the course of normal day to day operations. Within a hazardous gas environment an explosion can take place if a flammable substance, an oxidiser and a source of ignition are found simultaneously within the atmospheric air. The absence of any one of these three elements would stop an explosion from occurring, and that is why through continued innovation and increased focus on safety the lifting equipment industry is able to offer a broad range of explosion proof and spark proof hoists, winches and trolleys, etc. specifically for safe use in these hazardous environments.

Going Underground!

Going Underground!

We were asked to carry out cleaning and a CCTV drainage survey for one of our clients at an underground car park which faced challenging access for our vehicles and qualified surveyors. This work required use of one of our mobile cleaning units with additional jetting hose and a special cutting jet nozzles to remove the heavily encrustation from the drainage system, supported by using our portable mini cam camera system.

Underground Surveys and Road Safety Week

Underground Surveys and Road Safety Week

Did you know it was Road Safety Week last week? Road Safety Week runs from November 16th to November 22nd. The week, organised by 'Brake', a road safety charity, is an annual event and the biggest road safety awareness event in the UK.

During Road Safety Week, thousands of organisations, schools and communities take part, with road safety demonstrations, events, awareness video screenings, talks and more. Each year the event has a theme.

During Road Safety Week, the police often do roadside checks of vehicles for safety, highlighting the dangers of poorly maintained vehicles and offering advice to drivers, or running speed checks and reminding the general public of how speeding is a major cause of accidents and contributor to deaths through road accidents.

Schools can take advantage of road safety week to teach children about the highway code for example, or safety when crossing roads, cycling proficiency tests, and the importance of cycle helmets and high visibility when cycling,

Riding Stables can hold safety talks for riders who ride on the road, and members of the public can be reached through press, media, and public events that remind them of safe driving techniques, statistics relating to bad driving and road accidents, use of mobile phones at the wheel, and more.

The event has great scope to reach many people across the nation and remind them of road safety, thus potentially preventing many accidents.

Underground Surveys take road safety seriously, our vehicles are liveried in special reflective signage for the darker nights and our staff wear high-visability workwear as well as cordoning any working area off to allow safe passage for pedestrians and traffic, as well as the safety of our teams.

You can register with Brake to run a road safety event, and they will send you an electronic action pack to aid you in your event. Find out more at http://www.roadsafetyweek.org.uk
